Shiatsu
Shiatsu is a traditional Japanese therapy, which balances an individual's energy flow and strengthens the vital organs in order to maintain health and vitality. Like acupuncture, shiatsu drains excess energy from meridians full of energy into empty channels. Symptoms like depression or tension are seen as an imbalance of energy and like other holistic medicine, the patient must be seen as a whole. Illness often occurs due to an imbalance to the flow i.e. deficiency, stagnation or excess. Pain and disease can manifest itself on any level: physical; emotional; psychological; or spiritual.
If there are no obvious health problems, shiatsu can also be an excellent as a way of maintaining a balance and thus is a preventative therapy and a way of maintaining good health. Shiatsu helps to alleviate neck pain, back pain, digestive problems, painful periods, PMT, knee problems, migraines, stress, tension, etc. Shiatsu can also help to create improved body awareness and ease childbirth. It is also enjoyed purely for its relaxation and preventative qualities.

I taylor each treatment according to the patient's individual needs, which are identified through the detailed case history which is explored at the first session. Shiatsu is a traditional healing therapy that uses the fingers and palm of one's hand to apply pressure to particfular pressure points and meridians for the purpose of correcting the imbalances of the body.
I have studied Chinese Medicine since 1977 when I was first introduced to the subject when I translated a book on macrobiotics. I then went on to study Shiatsu at the British School of Shiatsu-Do in 1984 and have been practising shiatsu since then. I studied Acupuncture through an intensive three year course at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in 1997. I have also taught at the London College of Traditional Acupuncture and the School of Five Elements Acupuncture in addition to my acupuncture and shiatsu practises, I am a registered member of both the British Acupuncture Council BAcC and the Shiatsu Society.
I practise Qigong daily which is an aspect of Traditional Chinese Medicine that coordinates different breathing patterns with various physical postures and motions of the body for maintenance of health.
